Weather: Flash floods, landslides threaten parts of Mindanao

Flash floods and landslides threaten parts of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Monday afternoon. PAGASA said this is due to a wind convergence affecting Mindanao, even as it said moderate to strong southwesterly surface windflow is prevailing over Luzon. "Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Eastern Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. It added northern and Central Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Meanwhile, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. At the same time, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest and west with slight to moderate seas. — RSJ, GMA News
