Power problem stalls 3 northbound MRT trains

A problem in the power supply disrupted the operations of the Metro Rail Transit Monday night as it caused at least three trains to stall. Light Rail Transit Authority spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the problem affected three trains between the GMA-Kamuning and North Avenue stations in Quezon City. "Yung power supply nagti-trip at the moment. May three trains northbound na hindi makagalaw. Kasalukuyang inaayos pa ngayon," he said in an interview on dzBB radio shortly after 6:30 p.m. He said the southbound operations were still normal as of 6:30 p.m., but said there may be problems if they do not get the three stalled trains moving soonest. For now, he said the northbound operations between Kamuning to North Avenue are affected. "We're hoping maiayos ang mangyayari sa power supply para makagalaw ang tren. At the moment nire-repair ang power sa area ng North at Kamuning," he said. The MRT links North Avenue in Quezon City to Taft Avenue in Pasay City. For now, Cabrera said they are not sure if the glitch was an internal problem or a supply problem from the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco). — KBK, GMA News
