2 cops hurt, 3 armed men nabbed in Batangas clash

Two local policemen in Batangas province were hurt in an encounter with still unidentified armed men on Tuesday morning. Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman, said the incident happened at Sitio Riverside in Barangay Poblacion in San Juan town about 9 a.m. The encounter happened between operatives from the Batangas police's Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and an "unidentified armed group." The identities of the two injured policemen were not immediately available as of posting time. Three of the armed suspects, whose identities remained unknown, were arrested.
