NDRRMC: 2065 families affected by Mindoro floods
At least 2,065 families in Mindoro Occidental have been affected by floods caused by heavy rain in the last four days, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In an Aug. 10 report posted on its website Thursday, the NDRRMC said the heavy rain caused rivers to swell in Calintaan, Sablayan, San Jose and Sta. Cruz towns. But it said the floods have since subsided as of August 10. Still, the NDRRMC said some 260 families from Sablayan town were evacuated to the Ilaya Day Care Center. Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said roads and bridges are now passable to vehicles, while power has been restored to the affected towns. — RSJ, GMA News
