Weather: Rain showers expected in NCR, Palawan, Visayas, Mindanao

While there is no weather disturbance in and around Philippine territory, Filipinos can still expect isolated rain on Friday, state weather forecasters said. Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecaster Nelson Dianela said there is no low-pressure area near the country at this time. "Wala tayong bagyong namamataan sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa ... (Ang LPA), wala rin (For today we see no weather disturbance, including cyclones or low-pressure areas, near the country)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio Friday. He said isolated rain showers may occur over parts of the country, including Palawan, Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila. "Isolated rain showers lang mangyayari sa atin (We can expect some isolated rain showers for today)," he said. PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin indicated an inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is now affecting the Visayas and Mindanao. "Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest and northeast over Mindanao and Palawan coming from the east to northeast elsewhere, it added. PAGASA also said the coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. — RSJ, GMA News
