300 kilos tainted meat seized in QC

Veterinary authorities seized at least 300 kilos of suspected "botcha" (tainted) meat in at least three markets in Quezon City before dawn Friday. But the team led by the Quezon City veterinary office did not make any arrests, according to a report by radio dzBB's Allan Gatus. The team merely issued "confiscation tickets" to the vendors, the report said. Seized from the MC Market, North Diversion Market and Riverview Market - all in Balintawak - were 300 kilos of tainted chicken, pork and beef. According to the report, the team had also seized some 120 kilos of tainted meat in the city's Old Samson market only some days back. The team was to bring the seized meat to the Parks and Wildlife Bureau and feed it to the crocodiles there, the report said. — RSJ, GMA News
