Over 200 motorists caught violating Macapagal Blvd speed limit

More than 200 motorists were flagged down after the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday fully enforced the 60-kph speed limit along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in southern Metro Manila. Radio dzBB’s Sam Nielsen reported that the motorists either paid a P3,000 fine or had their licenses confiscated. The report said one of the violators engaged MMDA personnel in a chase along the five-kilometer highway but was eventually caught and found with an expired license. The report added that the MMDA started the full-blast implementation of the speed limit Friday after a 15-day soft launch that began on July 26. Earlier this year, the MMDA implemented a similar speed limit along the 12.4-km Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, dubbed a killer highway due to the high number of road accidents there. - VVP, GMA News
