Scattered rain looms over PHL; rainy weekend seen

Rain showers threaten parts of the country Saturday due to an inter-tropical convergence zone affecting southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also indicated a rainy weekend for major cities in the country. "Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. PAGASA's extended weather outlook indicated Metro Manila will have partly to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. A similar outlook applies to other key cities such as Tuguegarao, Laoag, Baguio, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority area, Tagaytay, and Puerto Princesa. Meanwhile, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the Southwest to Southeast over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it added. — LBG, GMA News
