2 dead, 1 missing in Sultan Kudarat landslide
At least two people were killed while a child was reported missing in a landslide that hit a community in Bagumbayan town in Sultan Kudarat late Friday afternoon. Bagumbayan town police head Chief Inspector Junie Buenacosa on Saturday said the landslide caused by heavy rain hit Purok 10 in Barangay Kinayao. âThe landslide occurred at 5 p.m. There were fatalities and at least one is missing," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. He cited initial reports identifying the fatalities as Terestita Albantes, 39; and daughter KC, 8. He said KCâs body was retrieved early Saturday morning. Still missing and now the subject of search-and-rescue operations is one Christine Olivar, he said. Buenacosa said at least 24 families in the area were also brought to evacuation centers. He added flash floods spawned by continuous heavy rain also hit the the area. âMore or less 15 houses ang damaged, ang crops (na-damage at least) 20 hectares (At least 15 houses were damaged while at least 20 hectares of crops were affected)," he said. â LBG, GMA News
