Army in Sultan Kudarat finds home-made bombs

Philippine Army operatives acting on a tip recovered on Saturday two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat. Authorities are now trying to track down the passenger of a multi-cab who, according to witnesses, left the IEDs in a yellow sack. Reports reaching Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Arturo Ortiz showed a certain Roll Delfin called the Army before noon to report a suspected yellow sack. The sack was left by an unidentified passenger at the terminal along Rizal Street in Tacurong. Initial investigation showed the IEDs were made out of an 81-mm mortar, improvised blasting caps and nine-volt batteries, with a cell phone attached as detonator. The items had been turned over to an Explosives and Ordnance Division team for proper disposition. — JE/VS, GMA News
