Pinay's 'hubby' claims responsibility for insults vs Singaporeans

The “husband" of a Filipina who allegedly insulted Singaporeans on Facebook has come forward to claim responsibility for the act, a Singaporean news portal reported over the weekend. Rachelle Ann Beguia, an employee of National Heart Center Singapore (NHCS), supposedly posted Facebook comments describing Singaporeans as “moronic" persons who will drop their loyalty and patriotism “at the first sign of trouble," according to a report on news portal AsiaOne. The comments appeared on the Facebook page of Malaysian Member of Parliament Penny Low. Last Saturday, a man named Gay Chao Hui, who claimed to be Beguia’s husband, said he was behind the Facebook post that has yielded demands for the Filipina’s dismissal from NHCS. “On 10 August 2011, using my wife Rachel Ann Beguia's Facebook account, I her husband, Gay Chao Hui, had posted remarks that have inflamed many Singaporeans. These remarks were posted without her knowledge. I am completely responsible and at fault, and wish to express my sincerest apologies," Gay said, according to AsiaOne. “I have also subjected my wife to immense emotional distress... I would like to express my remorse and deepest apologies to the people of Singapore who have been hurt by my remarks," Gay added. 'Explanation' rejected But many Facebook users rejected Gay's "explanation," the AsiaOne report noted. Facebook user Wak Enal Zainal said Gay's posting was a "disgrace" regardless of whether he was a foreigner or local. Another Facebook user named Douglas Ho urged Gay to surrender to the police and asked him whether he understood the gravity of the situation. In another online community site, Temasek Review, many responses were as negative as the previous ones. "Can we go (through a) lie detector test?" asked "Facts of life." "Don’t try to lie to us, the gene of lying is in your Pinoy blood," said "don know what to say." "If you were the one who posted the comment, why did we get an earlier apology from Rachelle herself?" asked "Suspiciously Suspicious." "Come on Gay don’t treat us like idiots!!!!!!" said "beggar." — with Paterno Esmacquel II/LBG, GMA News
