Weather: Cloudy skies, scattered rain over most of PHL

Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers loom over most parts of the country for the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday afternoon. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said this is due to an inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao. "Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms," it said. PAGASA said the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. Light to moderate winds blowing from the Southeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the South to Southeast over Mindanao, it said. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it added. Meanwhile, weather site Typhoon2000 said there is no sign of a cyclone approaching Philippine territory up to Wednesday. "Tropical Cyclone Formation over the Western Pacific Ocean and the Philippine Sea is not expected through Wednesday, August 17," it said. — KBK, GMA News
