Shuttle bus catches fire near NAIA 3

Traffic near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 was slowed down early Monday after a mini-bus ferrying guests to a resort caught fire. No one was initially reported injured in the incident as the bus driver said he told the passengers to get off when he noticed smoke on his dashboard. "I was surprised when I saw the dashboard smoking. I had the eight passengers get off the bus immediately," bus driver Guillermo Ruben said in Filipino in an interview on dzBB radio. "Tapos tuluy-tuloy na [ang] pag-alis ng mga guest... wala na akong magawa (Once the guests got off, the flames engulfed the bus. There was nothing I could do)," he added. He said the passengers included two children and a mother. He said he had them ride a taxi.

A tweet by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority indicated the fire occurred near the Villamor area. The MMDA said that as of 7:25 a.m., the shuttle bus of Resort World at Sales corner Villamor (westbound) was "causing heavy traffic both directions of Sales bridge." — RSJ, GMA News
