Report: 2 hurt as cops crowd NAPOLCOM office for exam

At least two people were reported injured as pushing and shoving marred the application for promotional and entrance exams for the Philippine National Police (PNP) shortly before noon Monday. The applicants for the exams crowded the National Police Commission office in Makati City and broke the glass portion of the entrance, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. "Napuno sa labas at napwersa ang pintuan (So many applicants were outside and pushed on the entrance)," an unnamed police officer said in the report. When asked if there were people injured, he said there were "two or three" police personnel. An updated dzBB report said one of the injured was a female uniformed personnel, while the other was a male "civilian." Initial investigation showed the police personnel lining up at the Napolcom crowded the entrance when it began to rain. The crowding eventually led to pushing and shoving until the glass portion of the Napolcom entrance broke. Napolcom assistant regional director Cynthia Navarro appealed to the applicants for discipline, the report said. The dzBB report said there were traces of blood in the area where the incident occurred. The Napolcom began accepting applications for the PNP Entrance and Promotional Examinations on Monday. The nationwide examinations will be on October 23, and the deadline for filing applications is September 16. Napolcom Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Eduardo Escueta said the acceptance of applications shall be on a "first come, first-served" basis. — KBK, GMA News
