PAGASA: No cyclone over NCR despite rain

The rain showers falling over parts of Metro Manila Tuesday afternoon are not from a cyclone but are thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. In a series of Twitter messages, PAGASA said the thunderstorms had been noted over Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) in northern Metro Manila. PAGASA also noted thunderstorms over Marikina and Quezon Cities, as well as over San Juan and Mandaluyong Cities. Rain was also noted over Antipolo, Taytay and Cainta in Rizal province. On its website, PAGASA said there is "no tropical cyclone within the Philippine area of responsibility." Earlier, PAGASA said the inter-tropical convergence zone may bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms to parts of the country. — KBK, GMA News
