OSX Lion available on USB drive for $69

Having trouble downloading Apple Inc.'s latest operating system OS X Lion? Now you can get it via USB drive - but prepare to fork out $39 extra. Apple on Tuesday released OS X Lion via thumb drive through its online store, Apple enthusiast site 9to5mac reported. "OS X Lion is available on a USB thumb drive for installation without the need for a broadband Internet connection. Just plug the drive into your USB port and follow the instructions to install," Apple said in its website. The USB thumb drive sells for $69 - almost $40 more than the $29.99 version that is available via Internet download from the Mac App Store. It will ship in one to three business days. System requirements include at least an Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB memory, and 7 GB of disk space. On the other hand, 9to5mac said that one caveat for users that install OS X Lion via this thumb drive is that "re-installs will need to be conducted via the thumb drive; the internet-based Lion recovery system will not function." "When you install OS X Lion using the USB thumb drive, you will not be able to reinstall OS X Lion from Lion Recovery. You will need to use the USB thumb drive to reinstall OS X Lion," it added. — TJD, GMA News
