Weather: Rain showers expected in NCR, other parts of PHL

Rain showers in Metro Manila and other parts of the country are to be expected again on Wednesday, but these will come from an inter-tropical convergence zone and not from a cyclone. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the ITCZ is affecting the western part of Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao. "Wala po (tayong bagyo). ITCZ ang makakaapekto sa Visayas, Mindanao, including western section ng Southern Luzon (We do not detect any cyclone near Philippine territory. The ITCZ will be affecting Visayas, Mindanao and the western section of Southern Luzon)," PAGASA forecaster Manny Mendoza said in an interview on dzBB radio. He added that Metro Manila will continue to have relatively good weather, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius. Rain showers and thunderstorms had fallen Tuesday on parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces in Central and Southern Luzon. PAGASA, however, maintained there is still no cyclone in the Philippine area of responsibility at this time. Meanwhile, PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with scattered to widespread rains over the western section of Southern Luzon. "The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it added. Also, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the northeast and southwest over the rest of the country. — RSJ, GMA News
