PHL Embassy in KSA lowers cost of replacing passport

Filipinos based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) stand to benefit from a decision by Philippine authorities there to lower the costs of replacing lost passports. The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh on Thursday issued an advisory that it has removed the fee for the transmission for verification of lost passports. In its advisory, it said the removal of this fee would save Filipinos SR80 (P906). “The fee for application of replacement e-Passport for a lost passport (green or MRP) is now SR 360 (P4,078) instead of SR440 (P4,984). The total fee inclusive of the notarization of the affidavit of loss is SR 460 (P5,210)," it said in Advisory No. 73/2011. But it said those who lose their e-Passports may have to fork out extra in applying for a replacement. Applying for a replacement e-Passport may involve SR 700 (P7,929), which includes SR 600 (P6,796) plus SR 100 (P1,132) for notarization of an affidavit of loss. — LBG, GMA News
