PAGASA: Thunderstorms hit Quezon, Aurora provinces

The rain over parts of Quezon and Aurora provinces Thursday afternoon are from thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. In messages posted on its Twitter account, PAGASA also said cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are likely in Palawan and Bulacan provinces. PAGASA noted rain showers and thunderstorms over northern Quezon and Aurora, saying that similar conditions are expected in Marilao, Bocaue and Meycauayan in Bulacan. Earlier, PAGASA said there is no cyclone affecting the country or the Philippine area of responsibility. But it said the inter-tropical convergence zone is affecting several parts of the country. Also, PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said the afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms may be expected to last until end-August. — LBG, GMA News
