PAGASA: Heavy rain showers hit NCR, parts of Mindanao


Heavy rain showers hit parts of Metro Manila afternoon while thunderstorms hit some areas in Mindanao late Thursday, state weather forecasters said. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted rain showers in Marikina and Pasig Cities as of 4 p.m. PAGASA also noted thunderstorms over San Juan, Mandaluyong and Pasig Cities. Rain showers and thunderstorms were likewise recorded over Manila, Quezon City and the Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) areas, PAGASA tweeted. In Quezon City, heavy rain fell in the areas near Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines headquarters, radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr. reported. The rain caused moderate to slow traffic near Camps Crame and Aguinaldo, dzBB added. But in other parts of Metro Manila such as Manila and Pasay Cities, only light rain was noted, according to separate dzBB reports. On the other hand, PAGASA said thunderstorms and rain showers over Boston in Agusan del Sur; and thunderstorms over Compostela in Davao del Norte. Thunderstorms were also noted over Trento in Agusan del Sur and Monkayo in Davao del Norte; and in Talacogon and San Francisco towns in Agusan del Sur. It likewise forecast possible thunderstorms over Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte. —LBG, GMA News
