Katipunan traffic jam seen on Pinoy-style World Youth Day
Up to 15,000 youth delegates will flock to the Ateneo de Manila University this Saturday and likely bring traffic congestion to surrounding areas while they celebrate the Filipino counterpart of the World Youth Day (WYD) in Spain, organizers said. âWYD 2011 from Madrid to Manila" is an overnight vigil from Saturday to Sunday. The vigil will have as a highlight the video feed of Pope Benedict XVIâs message to the youth. On its website, Ateneo suggests the following alternative routes for vehicles plying Katipunan Avenue, the main road in front of the university where traffic jams are daily travails on weekdays. For vehicles coming from the south going to the Commonwealth area:
- Along Katipunan, make a U-turn under the Aurora flyover going south (towards Makati)
- Right to P. Tuazon Boulevard (at Labor Hospital)
- Right to J.P. Rizal
- Left to Aurora Boulevard
- Right to Anonas
- Left to Kamias Road
- Right to Kalayaan Road
- Right to Elliptical Road
- Right to Commonwealth Avenue
- (If going to Katipunan) Right to University Avenue
- Right to C.P. Garcia going to Katipunan
- Along Sumulong, make a right turn to J.P. Rizal Street
- Left to Bagong Farmerâs Avenue going to Tumana Bridge
- Left to Katipunan Street inside Loyola Grand Villas
- Right to Katipunan Extension
- Right to H. Ventura Street
- Right to Katipunan Avenue
- Along Marcos Highway, turn left to Aurora Boulevard
- Right to Anonas
- Left to Kamias Road
- Right to Kalayaan Road
- Right to Elliptical Road
- Right to Commonwealth Avenue
- Right to University Avenue
- Right to C.P. Garcia going to Katipunan
- Left to Bonny Serrano towards EDSA
- Right to East Avenue or Quezon Avenue
