PAGASA: Expect rain, thunderstorms in parts of PHL

Rain showers and thunderstorms loom over various parts of the country due to the inter-tropical convergence zone (CTZ) affecting the archipelago, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Friday. In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the whole country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. "Mararanasan ang kalat-kalat na pag-ulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog lalo sa silangang bahagi ng Mindanao at kanlurang bahagi ng Central Luzon at southern Luzon," PAGASA forecaster Sonny Pajarilla said in an interview on dzBB radio. Pajarilla added Metro Manila residents can expect rain showers and thunderstorms especially in the afternoon. On the other hand, he said rain clouds had started to form over Batangas as early as 5 a.m. "Kaya nararanasan nila ang pag-ulan doon," Pajarilla said. Also, PAGASA's Twitter account indicated rain showers over Tayabas (Quezon), and Paete, San Pablo and Los Baños (Laguna). Rain showers also occurred over Infanta and moving towards Real and Lumban in Quezon, it added. Meanwhile, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the East to Southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the Southwest over Visayas and Mindanao. — LBG, GMA News
