Sa Piling ng Wala: Kara David's "Silong"

Many Filipinos from the provinces flock to Manila to pursue their dreams. They see Manila as a place of abundance, where basic needs like water, food, electricity and shelter are within reach. In fact, in different corners of the metro, many of our kababayans have found these basic needs for “free." Food from leftovers in garbage areas, water leaking from public water pumps and electricity from lamp posts. This has been the outcome of the “Great Manila Dream" for thousands of homeless Filipinos living in the streets of Manila. Every available street corner, they call shelter. Any place with shade they call home. From the old streets of Escolta, Manila to the dark avenues of Quezon City, follow Kara David in a three day immersion with the homeless. Watch her live the life of Maricel Regala, a mother of three and homeless for seven years, from food gathering, bathing in public and sleeping in cold pavements. Find out in “Silong" the truth behind the adage “true lessons in life are found in the streets". “Silong", a Kara David anniversary documentary on I-Witness, Monday after Saksi on GMA.
