PAGASA: Rains to fall on parts of PHL; cyclone possible in 5 days

An inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is forecast to bring rain over parts of the country, even as a weather site hinted at a possible cyclone in the next five days. In its 5 a.m. bulletin, The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ is affecting the entire country. "The entire archipelago will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms," PAGASA said. PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southwest to west over Visayas and Mindanao. Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it added. PAGASA's Twitter account indicated "light to moderate" rain over Antipolo City and nearby areas before 6 a.m. Saturday. It also noted light rain over some areas in Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig and Pateros. Rain was also expected over Pampanga and in San Antonio and San Isidro in Nueva Ecija. Tropical cyclone possible? Meanwhile, weather site Typhoon2000 said a tropical cyclone formation is possible along the Western Pacific Ocean. But Typhoon2000 indicated this may be "far away, east of extreme Northern Luzon," adding the cyclone may form between Sunday and Wednesday. Its analysis indicated the low-pressure area is developing northeast of Guam, with forecast guidance models indicating it may develop into a cyclone and head towards Taiwan or Okinawa area. — LBG, GMA News
