Police: 1 killed, 7 hurt in Tacloban road accident


At least one person was killed while seven were injured in a road accident in Tacloban City in Leyte province Friday night. Tacloban City police chief Senior Superintendent Wilson Caubat said the incident occurred at 9:15 p.m. along Maharlika Highway, near a gas station in Abucay village. He identified the fatality as Ricardo Tolibas, who died while being treated at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC). Injured were:

The victims were aboard a Fuso Canter cargo truck (YAS-376) owned by Robert Gosyco and driven by Rommel Gutierez, 21. Investigation showed the Fuso was bumped from behind by an Isuzu Forwarder water tanker (XBF-825), registered to the Leyte Metropolitan Water District. Bryan Dave Reposar, 32, the driver of the water tanker, was detained at the police station. The passengers were rushed to the EVRMC and St. Paul’s Hospital.
