PHL Embassy in KSA closed Aug 29 to Sept 3

The Philippine Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced Wednesday it will be closed for the Eid’l Fitr holidays from August 29 to September 3. In an advisory posted early Wednesday on its website, the Philippine Embassy said it will resume regular working hours on Sunday, September 4. “The Embassy will be closed from Monday, August 29 to Saturday, September 3, in observance of the Eid El-Fitr holidays. Regular working hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, will resume on Sunday, 04 September 2011," it said. The long weekend there follows a similar long weekend in the Philippines where August 29 and 30 are holidays. Aug. 29 is observed as National Heroes’ Day, while Aug. 30 is Eid’l Fitr – the end of the holy Islamic month of Ramadan. Members of the Islamic community in the Philippines celebrate Eid’l Fitr to end a month of fasting. —LBG, GMA News
