PAGASA: 'Mina' intensifies, but almost stationary

Tropical Storm Mina (international code name Nanmadol) intensified further Wednesday afternoon but remained almost stationary off Catanduanes province in the Bicol Region, state weather forecasters said. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Mina was estimated at 370 km northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 4 p.m., packing maximum winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. PAGASA said the cyclone is forecast to remain almost stationary. "Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao will experience monsoon rains while the rest of Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the eastern sections of northern and Central Luzon which may trigger flash floods and landslides," it said. Earlier, PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said a cyclone interacting with Mina is preventing the storm from leaving Philippine territory.
