Fire hits furniture warehouse in Valenzuela

At least P3 million in property was destroyed after a fire believed caused by an electrical short circuit razed a furniture establishment in Valenzuela City Wednesday night. Valenzuela City fire officials said the fire started at about 8 p.m. Wednesday at the furniture warehouse in Don Pablo Subdivision, radio dzBB reported early Thursday. The report said the fire in Rincon village reached Task Force Alpha at about 10:30 p.m., even as firefighters managed to place the blaze under control at 12:43 a.m. Thursday.

Firefighters also sought to keep the blaze from reaching a nearby factory making "sando" plastic bags. No one was initially reported injured in the fire, but arson investigators estimated the damage to property at P3 million. Arson investigators are also verifying reports that an electrical short circuit caused the fire. — RSJ, GMA News
