Car thieves strike in Taguig, take van

Car thieves struck anew in Metro Manila before dawn Thursday, taking an L-300-type van in front of the owner's house. The Philippine National Police's Highway Patrol Group is now tracking down the L-300 van (UMN-996) taken by the unidentified men, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. An initial investigation showed the van was parked in front of the house of owner Gerardo Paz along Ilang-Ilang Street in Lower Bicutan in Taguig at about 1 a.m. Gerardo's brother Rogelio said their mother heard the sound of the van's engine being revved up but thought one of her sons was driving the van. It was only when the household woke up at 5 a.m. that they realized the van was stolen. — RSJ, GMA News
