PHL Embassy in Prague promotes Palawan underground river

Philippine officials in the Czech Republic campaigned for the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) in Palawan as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature (N7WN). Ambassador Evelyn Garcia enlisted the help of travel companies in Prague to vote for the Philippine icon, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. "Over the last two weeks, Ambassador Garcia met with officials of top travel companies in Prague as part of the Embassy's effort to gather more votes for the PPUR as the voting period for the new N7WN draws to a close as well as to promote Philippine tourism in general," the DFA said in a news release. Garcia is also set to engage travel writers from the biggest Czech dailies to promote the PPUR and the Philippines as a tourist destination for Czech travelers, the DFA said. She also campaigned for the PPUR to the Filipino community in the Czech Republic via social networking sites. On August 23, Garcia met with Matej Mika of ESO Travel a.s., one of the biggest travel companies in the Czech Republic specializing in trips to Asia. "Mr. Mika, who has visited PPUR, described this Philippine wonder as beautiful, different and awesome, and that is sure to captivate its visitors," the DFA said. - VVP, GMA News
