US Embassy in Manila closed on Aug. 29, 30

The United States Embassy in Manila announced Thursday it will be closed on August 29 and 30, which Malacañang had declared as holidays. In an announcement on its Facebook page, the US Embassy said it will resume regular services on Wednesday, August 31. "The U.S. Embassy and its affiliated offices will be closed to the public on Monday, August 29, 2011, in observance of National Heroes Day and on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in observance of Eid-al-Fitr. Regular services will resume on Wednesday, August 31, 2011," it said on its Facebook account. Malacañang earlier declared Aug. 29 and 30 as non-working holidays. Aug. 29 is observed as National Heroes’ Day, while Aug. 30 is Eid’l Fitr – the end of the holy Islamic month of Ramadan.
