Palace wishes Rep. Gloria Arroyo improved health

Malacañang on Thursday wished former President and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who went under the knife for the third time this year on Wednesday, an improved health. “We are glad that the [former] President has weathered another operation and weathered it successfully," presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said at a press briefing. “So we pray for the continued improvement of her health." Despite the political differences, Lacierda said they have never wished ill of Arroyo as far as her health is concerned. “We’ve always pray that she will have a successful surgery," he said. On Wednesday, Arroyo underwent her third surgery to correct a spine problem. She will stay at St Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig for several more weeks as she recuperates. Arroyo underwent cervical spine surgery last July 29 at the same hospital where titanium implants and bone substitute were used to rebuild her spine. On Aug. 10, she underwent revision surgery after doctors found out that the implants had been dislodged due to her “inherent bone problem." - Amita O. Legaspi/KBK, GMA News
