PAL plane with 'landing gear' problem lands safely in LA

A Philippine Airlines (PAL) passenger plane that reportedly experienced a "landing gear" problem safely landed in Los Angeles. The PAL aircraft, carrying 420 people, landed at the LA International Airport (LAX), according to US television network KNBC. "Philippine Airlines 747 lands safely at LAX, reported 'landing gear issues,' KNBC was quoted on the @BreakingNews Twitter account. Shortly before the safe landing, KNBC broke the news that the PAL plane would be trying to land at the LAX and that a "crash team had been called" for the expected landing. It was not immediately known where the PAL flight was headed before the safe landing in LA. Soon after the KNBC tweets, PAL confirmed the safe landing of its aircraft through its Twitter account as well. "Flight PR102 landed safely at Los Angeles. Details to follow," PAL said. News of the safe landing relieved several Twitter users, including Former Muntinlupa City Rep. Ruffy Biazon, who was prompted to immediately check on his sister. "Whew! Napatawag tuloy ako sa sister ko to check if she's on duty," the lawmaker said. Like Biazon, user "JENinATX" heaved a sigh of relief and twitted: "Whew, good 2 hear." Meanwhile, Skippyheart twitted: "Thank You po LORD! Hooray to the pilot!," while ClibeSimpkins simply exclaimed: "Hooray!" on his Twitter account. — Mark Merueñas/LBG, GMA News
