Bridesmaid graces best friend's wedding via iPad facetime

Steve Jobs may have quit his CEO post at Apple Inc., but he can rest easy knowing he made quite a difference at a recent wedding. Thanks to a white Apple iPad, a bridesmaid who could not make a trip from Denver (Colorado) to Richmond (Virginia) managed to still dress up and make it to her best friend's wedding. Renee Armstrong got a front-row seat to the wedding of Jonathan Alberico and Jamie Wilborn using the iPad's FaceTime feature, tech site CNET reported. "Unfortunately, the economy sucks. She just didn't have the means to make it out to Denver. It was absolutely devastating when we found she couldn't come," the bride said in an interview with CNET (http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20097249-1/ipad-bridesmaid-attends-wedding-via-facetime/?tag=TOCmoreStories.0). Even the white color of the iPad fit in with the motif of the wedding, the CNET report added. The FaceTime call got dropped twice, but the groomsman was able to dial Armstrong right back into the ceremony. Armstrong said she got "all teary-eyed" during the ceremony, "and I couldn't have got that from pictures." She was even able to pose for photos with the other bridesmaids and join in the festivities virtually. But the report said the setup was almost put in peril after a "slightly tipsy groomsman" dropped the iPad during the wedding rehearsal. "The next morning, one of the bridesmaids ran to Apple and they took care of it for us," said the bride. — TJD, GMA News
