1 killed, 2 hospitalized as wall collapses in QC

At least one person was killed while at least two others were rushed to a hospital after a wall collapsed on a row of eateries near an FX terminal in Novaliches in Quezon City early Sunday. Teams from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Quezon City police, and Philippine Red Cross rushed to the scene shortly after the incident, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. Rescuers retrieved the body of at least one fatality, initially identified as Mark Erol Calipayo; while two people initially identified as Fernandez and Vicente were rushed to a hospital. Search and rescue teams had to use hydraulic cutters to cut through the debris. The row of eateries where the incident occurred was near a terminal along Quirino Highway in the city's Novaliches district. Police investigators are still looking into what caused the wall to fall on the eateries. Traffic in the area was disrupted after the incident. — LBG, GMA News
