After causing at least seven deaths, Typhoon Mina moved towards Taiwan but continued to affect northern Luzon Sunday afternoon, state weather forecasters said. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said "Mina" was estimated at 100 km northwest of Basco, Batanes as of 4 p.m. In its 5 p.m. advisory, it said Mina was moving northwest at 9 kph and is expected to be 320 km north-northwest of Basco by Monday afternoon. It continued to pack maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph, PAGASA added. By Tuesday afternoon it will be 580 km north-northwest of Basco, or 210 km west-northwest of Taipei, Taiwan. However, PAGASA forecaster Robert Sawi said "Mina" is not expected to exit Philippine territory until Tuesday morning at the earliest.

Those living in coastal areas were alerted against big waves. Also, PAGASA estimated rainfall of 10 to 20 mm per hour within the 550-km diameter of Mina. Meanwhile, PAGASA said strong to gale-force winds are expected to affect the seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas. It reminded fishing boats and other small seacrafts not to venture out into the sea and larger sea vessels to be alert against big waves. Meanwhile, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon will continue to bring rain to Luzon and Western Visayas for the next week, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported.
