Cops hunting down two suspects in killing of woman in Malate


The police are now tracking down two unidentified men who shot dead a 56-year-old woman inside her house in Malate, Manila early on Monday. The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Maynila, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported. The initial investigation of the police showed that one of the suspects entered the house of the victim and opened fire. The suspect then fled outside, where his companion was waiting aboard a getaway motorcycle. The victim sustained gunshot wounds in the chest, throat and the side of the body, the report added. The police said witnesses did not get the license plate number of the motorcycle. Tight security Meanwhile, Philippine National Police chief Director General Raul Bacalzo said police were ordered to keep a tight watch over malls and parks during the "long weekend." Police personnel were also deployed to bus terminals, stations of the Light and Metro Rail Transit (LRT/MRT) systems, seaports, and airports. Malacañang had declared Monday and Tuesday as holidays, to mark National Heroes’ Day on August 29 and Eid’l Fitr — the end of Ramadan — on August 30.
