Weather: Monsoon may cause floods, landslides over Luzon
Tropical cyclone Mina (Nanmadol) may be gone, but flash floods and landslides continue to threaten parts of northern and Central Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Tuesday afternoon. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon is still affecting the western sections of northern and Central Luzon. "The islands of extreme northern Luzon and the western sections of northern and Central Luzon will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flash floods and landslides," it said. It added that the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. "Mina" exited Philippine territory Monday night, leaving behind at 25 people dead and more than P1.1 billion in damage to property. Meanwhile, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. — RSJ, GMA News
