Aquino greets Muslims on Eidul Fitr, calls for help in nat'l renewal

President Benigno Aquino III has called on Filipino Muslims to maintain their resolve to help work for national renewal, as he greeted them on Eidul Fitr. In his message posted on the government's official gazette on Wednesday, a day after the end of Islam's holy month of Ramadan, Aquino commended the Muslims for their resilience in surpassing the test of their devotion to the Almighty during the holy month of Ramadan. “But more than just a culmination of your abstinence, Eidul Fitr should be taken as an occasion to strengthen your consistency in observing the principles of your religion, including the lessons of humility and discipline. I urge you to remain firm in your resolve to help us enliven the daylight of renewal in our nation," he said. He also said the event should “signify another year of meaningful and peaceful relations in your community and among all Filipinos." Aquino noted faith and patience are among the important virtues in Islam, and are reflected in Ramadan and further celebrated in Eidul Fitr. “Thus, your festivity serves as a recompense for the sacrifices which you have willingly endured during your spiritual struggle in the past month," he said. — LBG, GMA News
