Weather: Heavy rain in NCR due to active monsoon

The heavy rain showers that fell over parts of Metro Manila before noon on Wednesday are due to an active monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. On its Twitter account, PAGASA said "Wala na po tayong bagyo..active po ang habagat natin." It said the monsoon is particularly strong in the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon. PAGASA noted heavy rain in:

  • North Fairview and Novaliches (Quezon City)
  • Commonwealth and Tandang Sora (Quezon City)
  • Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) Earlier, PAGASA forecaster Manny Mendoza said the rain on parts of Metro Manila since Tuesday night were not from a cyclone but from the monsoon enhanced by tropical cyclones "Nanmadol (Mina)" and "Talas." "Nanmadol/Mina," which is heading for China, had caused 26 deaths in the Philippines after battering Northern Luzon last weekend. - VVP, GMA News
