36 OFWs from Libya set to arrive at NAIA Wednesday

Thirty-six overseas Filipino workers from Libya are arriving in Manila on Wednesday afternoon, a Department of Foreign Affairs official said. DFA spokesperson Raul Hernandez said the OFWs are set to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 4:45 p.m. from Egypt via Emirates Airways. On the other hand, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Rafael Seguis and the embassy team are making last minute calls to OFWs to convince them to be repatriated. Last Saturday, the Seguis-led team made a bold attempt to pick up OFWs, but when they reached the edge of the town leading to their destination in Esbea, they were advised by the rebels to turn back. This developed as the exit visas of at least 108 OFWs in Syria have already been processed. Hernandez said the Philippine Embassy in Damascus is now arranging for their immediate repatriation to Manila. — JE, GMA News
