iPhone gets gesture-based Dolphin browser

Users of Apple Inc.'s iPhone, get ready for gesture-based browsing: the Dolphin browser is about to make a splash on iOS. The Dolphin browser, which gained popularity among users of devices using Google Inc.'s Android, was released for iOS this week. "You can simplify the way you navigate the mobile web without going through complicated clicks. On the bottom menu bar, you can find the gesture button (finger shape), which enables the gesture mode. In gesture mode, you can draw a sign or add a new gesture," developer MoboTap said in Apple's App Store. Other features of the gesture-based browser include tabbed browsing, a sidebar, a speed dial and a smart address bar. A separate article on tech site CNET said many features baked into the Dolphin browser would have required add-ons in other browsers. "Unfortunately, Dolphin faces the same restrictions that other third-party browsers suffer on iOS. There's no way to change your system's default browser, and unlike on Android--where the default browser faces stiff competition from Firefox, Skyfire, Dolphin, and other rapidly-developing alternatives--you can't change the default browser from Safari to another app," it said. — TJD, GMA News
