Cops track armed men in Cavite 'hostage taking'

Police in Cavite province are now tracking down armed men who reportedly broke into a security agency office in Silang town Friday afternoon and took some workers hostage before fleeing. The incident at the security agency office started at 4 p.m. Friday and ended past midnight, according to a report early Saturday by radio dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz. Cavite police are investigating how the armed men managed to escape even after police surrounded the office area, the report said. Initial reports indicated the incident started at 4 p.m. Friday when armed men broke into the security agency and locked two employees in the comfort room. The armed men also engaged responding police teams in a brief shootout, the report said. Shortly after the exchange of gunfire, two employees managed to escape by going through a window at the back of the comfort room. But police held for questioning a third employee who also got out of the security agency office via the back of the comfort room. Police are not discounting the possibility that an employee of the agency may have been an accomplice in the incident. — LBG, GMA News
