Magnitude 4.3 quake strikes Samar island - Phivolcs


A magnitude 4.3 quake struck Samar island in the Eastern Visayas Saturday evening. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was recorded at 6:07 p.m., and was tectonic in origin. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake's epicenter was 159 km northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar. Phivolcs said the quake was felt at: * Intensity III (weak): Tacloban City * Intensity II (slightly felt): Oras, Borongan, and Can-avid, Eastern Samar * Intensity I (scarcely perceptible): San Policarpo, Eastern Samar No damage or aftershock was expected from the quake, Phivolcs said. — ELR, GMA News
