NDRRMC: Damage to property from 'Mina' rises to P1.457B


The damage to property from tropical cyclone "Mina" (Nanmadol) rose further to P1.457 billion Sunday, with the agriculture sector reporting additional damage. In its 6 a.m. update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the damage to agriculture stood at P1,222,680,896.39. Damage to agriculture includes crops, high-value commercial crops, livestock, fisheries and agricultural infrastructure, the NDRRMC said. On the other hand, damage to infrastructure remained at P234,634,077, it added. The death toll remained at 33, while 37 were injured and eight still missing. The NDRRMC said Mina affected 95,540 families or 403,193 people in 1,201 villages in 121 towns and nine cities in 17 provinces. Of these, 78 families or 294 people are still being served in three evacuation centers. A total of 155 houses were destroyed while 2,783 were damaged. Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development terminated relief operations in Cagayan Valley, the NDRRMC said. — LBG, GMA News
