Leaked document indicates October launch for iPhone 5

A leaked document of an electronics store chain suggests Apple Inc.'s highly anticipated smartphone iPhone 5 may be launched in October, an enthusiast site reported Monday (Manila time). The "Boy Genius Reports" site said Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores are anticipating the iPhone as early as the first week of October. "iPhone 5 product introduction expected, pre-sales begin for expected October week 1 launch/ Sprint launches iPhone 5," read an excerpt of the document, an image of which was posted on BGR's site. But the document also indicated the launch dates may be "subject to change." On the other hand, BGR said its Best Buy source indicated it is "actually possible" that presales will be starting this week, "with the phone arriving in the first week of October." A separate article on tech site Mashable said the document at least shows the widely rumored October release date of the iPhone 5 "just got a little more likely." "Best Buy, you’re going to need to plug those leaks, lest you incur the wrath of Apple," Mashable added. This, however, isn't the only leak referring to the next iteration of the popular Apple smartphone. Just last week, Apple reportedly lost a prototype of the iPhone 5, in a repeat of the embarrassing carelessness which gave the world an early peek at the iPhone 4 last year. The San Francisco police were reportedly contacted by Apple representatives to help with the search of the iPhone 5 at wild, but they have yet to recover the lost prototype. Suppliers have earlier hinted at a September release for the iPhone 5, but it appears the date has been pushed back to October. — with JM Tuazon/RSJ, GMA News
