NDRRMC: Death toll from 'Mina' rises to 35


The death toll from tropical cyclone "Mina" (Nanmadol) rose to 35 as of Monday afternoon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In its 1:30 p.m. Monday update, the NDRRMC said the latest fatalities were from Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur provinces. According to the NDRRMC, Elizer Maneja, 27 (Brgy. Lumbad, Ilocos Norte) and Ghedamae Llanes, 15 (Caoayan, Ilocos Sur) both died of drowning. The NDRRMC said 37 were injured while eight remain missing. It said Mina affected 95,540 families or 403,193 people. Of these, 78 families or 294 people are still in three evacuation centers. A total of 155 houses were destroyed while 2,783 were damaged. Damage to property was estimated at P1,457,314,973.39, including P1,222,680,896.39 in agriculture and P234,634,077 in infrastructure. Placed under a state of calamity were:
