Ballet Manila represents PHL in culture expo in South Korea

Members of world-class dance institution Ballet Manila have taken their pride and grace onstage as the country's representative to the world culture expo in South Korea, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Monday. The dancers kicked off the celebration of "Philippine Day" during the 2011 Gyeongju World Culture Expo's sixth Grand Cultural Festival, the Foreign Affairs department said in a news release late Monday afternoon. Hundreds of Koreans and Filipinos in the Gyeongsangbuk-do province area, as well as some students from Seoul, attended the celebration, which would showcase Philippine culture and talents for better understanding among Filipino migrants and Korean nationals. Ballet Manila, the 16-year-old dance institution headed by prima ballerina Liza Macuja-Elizalde, will perform at the expo until September 10. Also representing the country is a group of circus performers who will perform alongside circus troupes from Russia and China until the Expo's closing on October 10, the DFA said. - RJMD, GMA News
