New Tourism chief tells Pinoys: Sell PHL on FB, Twitter

Coming from the advertising industry, the new Tourism secretary thinks selling the Philippine brand should begin with Filipinos themselves, the official said in his one-on-one interview on GMA News TV’s “State of the Nation" newscast. “Believe in the beauty of your country. Sell it at every turn. Sell it on Facebook, on Twitter, on Multiply. Talk about your country because we deserve a visit from the world," said Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, whom the President expects to boost Philippines tourism using his expertise in advertising.
For the latest Philippine news stories and videos, visit GMANews.TV Jimenez said the problem is that Filipinos tend to lack confidence in their own “product" – the country. “Nababanaagan sa ating mukha na hindi tayo naniniwala sa ating produkto. Ang turismo po ay confidence. Competition ‘yan eh. ‘Pag halatang duda ka sa sarili mong kagandahan, lalabas ‘yan," he said. In a media briefing after taking his oath last week as the new Tourism chief, Jimenez said selling the Philippines should be as easy as selling fastfood. “This is the most beautiful country in the world, one of the 10 most beautiful countries in the world. There is no reason we won’t succeed," he said. — PE/VS, GMA News
