Missing mountaineer found dead in Rizal province

A mountaineer who had gone missing was found dead at a hanging bridge area near a dam in Rodriguez town in Rizal province early Wednesday. Rodriguez Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council executive officer Rommel Santos said the body of Adrian Alba was found past 7 a.m.

"Nakita ng barangay tanod na naiwan naming nagre-rescue... Wala na pong buhay, patay na po. Nakita siya sa may hanging bridge lampas ng Wawa Dam. Galing sila sa ibabaw ng dam kung lalakarin 45 minutes," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. Santos said Alba, 25, had been missing since Sunday after going to the area with some mountaineers. Citing information reaching him, Santos said the group was going river-crossing but Alba let go of the rope and fell into the water. Earlier reports said Alba, a resident of Makati City, was swept away by strong currents in Wawa river while he was crossing the river, unharnessed. He was a guest of the Outdoor Addicts group when the incident happened. — LBG, GMA News
